About Us
I have been involved with dogs since a young age, successfully training and competing in Obedience with Shetland Sheepdogs from the age of twelve. After many years of traveling and living overseas, I returned to New Zealand in 2003 and began my life with Giant Schnauzers.
Millie came into my life as a 'rehome' when she was 18 months old... and so began my journey with this incredible breed. We began obedience together and she provided many entertaining moments for judges and spectators alike. It was an incredible thrill when she gained her Companion Dog Excellence title in 2009 ( a video of this appears later in the website), this was a first for Giant Schnauzers in New Zealand. Millie has followed this up with another first for the breed, gaining her Rally Novice (RN) title.
Mojo came onto the scene in early 2008, and then began the interest in showing. As a minority breed in New Zealand it has been wonderful to increase their profile in a variety of dog activities. Mojo has competed in agility, obedience and Rally O with success, and I look forward to continuing these. |
After a wonderful trip to Australia to meet the Wulfgar Giants and their two legged friends, I was given the amazing opportunity for Hunter to come to New Zealand. He was scheduled to arrive the week of the horrendous February quakes in 2010, after a delay he arrived in April, and has definitely made his home in New Zealand, loving the snow, sea and forest. He is a wonderful addition to the family and an absolute joy. Thank you to Soile his breeder, and Brett and Vanessa for sharing this gorgeous man with me.
October 2011 saw the first Zauberei litter arrive, from a Mojo/Hunter mating the 'Kiwi Icon' litter were an absolute delight and it is great to hear about their lives with their families. They are much loved and have such wonderful lives. Maestro stayed with us, and has developed into a stunning boy, turning heads and doing incredibly well in the breed ring. He is currently training in tracking and is a natural, with a huge enthusiasm. Maestro has started his agility training, and along with training in obedience we hope to work towards his Working Trials Titles in time.
Magic is our latest addition, an extra special singleton pup, Magic's sire Gloris Freest (Fedja) is a stunning boy from the Russian kennel Gloris. This would not have been possible without the support and friendship of Astrid Werner. A line breeding from the internationally renowned Giant Gloris Arizona Bill, grandsire to both Mojo and Fedja, it will be very exciting to see Magic develop. Magic is showing an awesome enthusiasm for learning and a drive to match. She hit the breed ring early in 2013 with incredible results, and will be staring to compete in agility in April 2014.
April 2013, and the Grimoire (meaning - a collection of spells) litter arrived, a repeat Mojo/Hunter mating...and what a noisey mischievious bunch of gorgeousness they were and are. Mojo again thrived as a mum, and gave these pups an awesome start, and now they are with their forever families enjoying wonderful lives. Our gorgeous boy Mc (Zauberei Got You Unda My Spell) has joined Jocelyn and her Newfies in the North Island and is doing fantastically in the show ring!
2014 saw us move to the country (Amberley, North Canterbury), with some land and extra space it will be exciting and am sure it will quickly become our home... the Land of the Giants!

Our future is exciting, and our lives are much richer for having Giant Schnauzers in it.
