Unfortunately on Sunday the 24th February our beautiful home, The Land of the Giants was extensively damaged by a tornado. We are all safe and well, but it does mean we cannot live in our home for at least six months. It was an incredibly frightening experience for us all, but with the loving support and kindness of family and friends old and new we look forward to our future when we can again live at The Land of the Giants!
A very exciting beginning of 2014 for us at Zauberei...as we prepare for theBIG move into the country. We are really excited to be setting up the 'Land of the Giants' in Amberley, North Canterbury...and 'the gang' are looking forward to having their very own paddock for zooming around in... SO SO exciting!
Just Hunter entered today... And he showed like a pro and loved that Akita puppy... Just BoB... But great to catch up with friends!
Hunter was really excited to get back into the showring... Especially with his new BFF Savi who did an awesome fill in job for me handling Hunter to a Reserve Best In Show!
Well it was a very early start for Hunter, aka Sled Dog Extraordinaire this morning as I delivered him to his 'awesome' musher Karen at 'sparrows fart' in a cold, dark and very wet forest. It wasn't his best race today, maybe cos his 'mum' wasn't there to cheer him on, but Hunter LOVES racing through the forest pulling Karen on her scooter though the mud puddles in the pouring rain in the middle of winter...so much so, he will do it all again tomorrow!lol Giants were bred originally as a carting breed of dog, when they weren't looking after the cattle...so it is an activity they can thrive at. Hunter is part of the Canterbury Sled Dog Club www.canterburysleddog.co.nz...and he loves it!!!
Thanks Jeannette...it is such an absolute pleasure starting the Zauberei babies off in life, and watching them bond with their forever families...I am so fortunate to have the most amazing people as part of our Zauberei famiy...you all are the 'most' perfect family for your Giant!...it makes the heartbreak of them leaving home, just a wee bit easier...and the pics and emails and stories...WOW...I love hearing about their wonderful lives! Hopefully through this BLOG we may be able to share some of these stories...lol
